This week has seen numerous media stories based on a lecture given by Simon as part of the Coastal State Lecture series organized by Rhode Island Sea Grant:
WPRI12 EcoRI Westerly Sun In addition, Simon will be talking to GoLocalProv journalist Molly O'Brien at 3pm on Friday 23rd February about the research we have been doing in the URI Sea Level lab as well as commenting on two new papers on accelerating sea-level rise and future sea-level commitments. Congratulations to J Padgett who passed his written and oral comprehensive exams this month. J will now focus on the final analyses and write up of his PhD thesis project on late Holocene earthquakes in Cascadia and modeling past rupture using geological estimates of vertical deformation.
Congratulations to lab PhD student J. Scott Padgett who was awarded the 2017 Richard Chambers Memorial Scholarship by the Northern California Geological Society. J will use this award to continue his research on the magnitude of land-subsidence during multiple past megathrust earthquakes in Humboldt Bay, California.
